Clinical & Rehabilitation Core

The Clinical & Rehabilitation Core (CCRC) assists the Outcomes Core with curation and analysis of existing Clinical Outcome Assessments and flexible outcomes batteries in Stage I of the initiative, and execution of the validation studies and protocol oversight in Stage II.


Core Co-Leader | Claudia Robertson, MD

Dr. Robertson is currently Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine. She is also Medical Director of the Neurosurgical ICU at Ben Taub General Hospital, which is a Level 1 trauma center in Houston, Texas.

Core Co-Leader | David Okonkwo MD PhD

Dr. Okonkwo is executive vice chair for clinical operations and is director of neurotrauma, director of scoliosis and spinal deformity at UPMC Presbyterian. He is also associate professor and clinical director of the Brain Trauma Research Center of the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Okonkwo’s clinical interests are traumatic injuries to the brain and spine as well as scoliosis and spinal deformity. His research endeavors involve developing novel therapeutic interventions for brain and spinal cord injury. Dr. Okonkwo is the principal investigator of a nationally funded clinical core to study the pathophysiology of traumatic brain injury. He is also principal investigator of several ongoing clinical studies in neurotrauma in Pittsburgh.
