The Biostatistics Core is responsible for review and selection of analytic methodology in Stage I, and methodology and analysis of validation data in Stage II of the TED Initiative
Core Co-Leader | Stephen R. Wisniewski, PhD
Dr. Wisniewski’s primary research interests include the design and analysis of clinical trials, specifically, multi-center randomized clinical trials. Recently these interests have been applied to the coordination of psychiatric clinical trials (bipolar disorder, treatment resistant depression, chronic depression). In addition to these interests, he has a long standing interest in traumatic brain injury, including pre-clinical and observational studies, as well as randomized clinical trials in adults and children.
Core Co-Leader | Nancy Temkin, PhD
Dr. Temkin is a biostatistician and clinical trialist who has focused her career for the past 35 years on understanding outcome from TBI and evaluating interventions to improve that outcome. She has a PhD is Statistics and has a joint appointment in Neurological Surgery and Biostatistics at the University of Washington, teaching statistical consulting each year in the top-rated Biostatistics program in the country. She has been the biostatistician and PI for the data center for 4 federally-funded multi-center clinical trials as well as numerous observational studies and single-site trials. She has published extensively in the area of TBI (h-index-of 44), is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, and has served on the editorial boards of scientific journals, study sections, Institute of Medicine committees, and data and safety monitoring committees.
